June 9th, 2018 is Oregon's "Get Outdoors Day".  We think this is the perfect day to invite our community to a rare treat: A guided hike led by Todd Kepple of the Klamath County Museum and Steve Sheehy, local Lichenologist on a rare property.  Also, birding specialist, Ron Larson of the Klamath Basin Audubon Society will be assisting with this hike.  The Caledonia property offers a rare Oregon white oak woodland...rare in that it's the one of the only Oregon white oak woodlands found this far east of the Cascades. Over 80 bird species have been identified on this land, plus rare plants and lichen grow here.

This hike is considered "Moderately" difficult.  Distance:  3-4 miles.  No dogs please.  Please bring water and snacks or a lunch and wear comfortable clothing.  A hat, sunscreen, and bug repellent are also recommended.  KLLT adheres to "Leave No Trace" and "Leave No One Behind" policies and ask that participants do the same.

For this outing, we will be meeting at the KLLT office at 212 South 9th Street, K. Falls at 9:30 AM and departing from there.  The site is 12 miles north of Klamath Falls off of highway 140, just past the Running Y Ranch Resort.

This is a family-friendly event and children are encouraged to attend. If you have children attending, please contact Lisa at (541) 884-1053 or Lisa@klamathlakelandtrust.org. We are asking this to enable us to maintain an accurate count of participants. Parents/guardians will be asked to review and sign a waiver of liability form on the day of this event.  Thank you.
